Filter supply has been central to the operation since December 2006, when James and Jennifer Edgar founded AB Components Ltd. The company initially supplied predominantly Donaldson filters to customers including motor factors, buying groups and individual farmers. Sales and accounts were managed from Ilkeston while stock was dispatched from Norwich, and James travelled across the UK to maintain customer relationships.

Growth led to a move to Manners Industrial Estate in 2008, alongside the introduction of a local van delivery service and a broader supplier list. In 2014, the business expanded into a 6,000 sq ft unit with larger offices, a conference room and additional warehouse capacity. Further investment followed in 2021 with a combined 12,000 sq ft, two-unit site. This location includes a mezzanine, trade counter, customer parking and a dedicated training and presentation area for customers and suppliers.
