Murshidabad College of Engineering and Technology
About Murshidabad College of Engineering and Technology
Murshidabad College of Engineering & Technology (MCET) is an engineering institution established in 1998 in West Bengal. Operating under the Society for MCET & HRD, the college provides undergraduate technical education intended to develop students’ academic knowledge, practical abilities and professional skills.
MCET is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology. The institution has also received financial and administrative support from the Government of West Bengal and Murshidabad Zilla Parishad.
B.Tech Degree Programs
The college offers four-year Bachelor of Technology programs across several engineering disciplines. Each academic year is divided into two semesters, and students who successfully complete the prescribed curriculum receive a B.Tech degree awarded by MAKAUT.
- B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering
- B.Tech in Civil Engineering
- B.Tech in Electrical Engineering
- B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering
Computer Science & Engineering
The Computer Science & Engineering program introduces students to programming, computer systems, software development, databases, networking and related areas of computing. Laboratory sessions and technical projects allow students to apply classroom concepts while developing analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Civil Engineering
The Civil Engineering program covers areas associated with structures, construction, surveying, transportation, geotechnical engineering and environmental systems. Students gain exposure to technical principles and practical methods relevant to infrastructure planning, design and development.
Electrical Engineering
The Electrical Engineering program focuses on electrical circuits, machines, power systems, control systems, measurements and related technologies. Practical sessions are intended to help students understand electrical equipment, testing procedures and engineering applications.
Electronics & Communication Engineering
The Electronics & Communication Engineering program includes subjects connected with electronic circuits, communication systems, digital technology, signal processing and embedded applications. Coursework combines theoretical foundations with laboratory-based learning and project work.
Infrastructure and Academic Resources
MCET provides laboratories, classrooms, library resources and other facilities supporting teaching and practical learning. Students can use these resources to complete experiments, academic assignments, technical projects and independent study related to their chosen engineering discipline.
The institution’s faculty includes academicians and professionals involved in classroom instruction, laboratory guidance and student mentoring. Workshops, seminars and technical activities offer additional opportunities for students to explore developments beyond the standard curriculum.
TEQIP Phase-II Support
Under the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme Phase-II, MCET received funding of ₹12 crore through a World Bank-supported initiative. The programme contributed to institutional development in areas such as infrastructure, faculty development, research capabilities and the broader educational environment.
Practical Learning and Professional Development
The college encourages students to complement academic studies with laboratory practice, projects, internships and industry interaction. These activities can help learners understand workplace expectations, develop teamwork abilities and gain experience applying engineering concepts to practical situations.
Extracurricular activities, workshops and seminars support development beyond technical subjects. MCET also maintains a placement cell that provides career-related assistance, training and information about employment opportunities. Placement participation and results depend on eligibility, individual performance, employer requirements and prevailing market conditions.
Prospective students should confirm current approvals, affiliation, admission criteria, course availability, fees, facilities and placement information directly with the college or the relevant regulatory authority before applying.
